Ashley Sonney, RN, NP

Ms Sonney is the director of Clinical Services at LECOM Advanced Wound Care center, where she plays a crucial role in overseeing clinical operations and ensuring high-quality patient care. She is certified in wound care, and her knowledge and skills contribute to effective wound healing and patient well-being. Ms Sonney has also served as the Clinical Nurse Manager at the LECOM Advanced Wound & Hyperbaric Medicine Center and has participated in educational initiatives related to wound care and nutrition.

Dr Tyson Green, DPM

Dr Green is a podiatric surgeon based in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He specializes in the treatment of foot and ankle injuries and conditions at the Center for Orthopaedics in Lake Charles. He holds an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry from Louisiana State University. His Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree was earned at Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Dr Green completed a 3-year residency in podiatric medicine and surgery at Scott & White/Baylor Health System in Temple, Texas. He is board certified by both the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and the American Board of Podiatric Medicine. Currently, Dr Green serves as the president of the Louisiana Podiatric Medicine Association and is the chief delegate for Louisiana in the American Podiatric Medical Association House of Delegates. His expertise extends to wound care, and he has earned the designation of Master of the American Professional Wound Care Association. Dr Green is an elected board member for the Specialty Board Review Committee for the Council on Podiatric Medical Education and evaluates residency programs for accreditation. As a fellow in the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, he actively contributes to advancing education on lower-extremity conditions. He is the program director and founder of the Christus St. Patrick Podiatric Medicine and Surgical Residency program. Additionally, Dr Green is a professor of Health and Human Performance at McNeese State University. He serves as a senior partner and is part of the governing board for the Center for Orthopaedics and the Imperial Calcasieu Surgery Center. Dr Green also holds the position of medical director at the Christus/Oschner Wound Center at Imperial Pointe. His reputation extends globally, as he lectures both nationally and internationally on various topics related to his field.

Dr James Lin, DO

Dr Lin is a geriatric medicine specialist and the president of the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging in Erie, Pennsylvania. He is also a clinical professor of Geriatric Medicine at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM). Dr Lin received his medical degree from LECOM and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Millcreek Community Hospital. He also underwent fellowship training at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics, Hospice, and Palliative Medicine. Dr Lin provides comprehensive care for seniors in both outpatient and inpatient settings. He is affiliated with Lake Erie Community Osteopathic Medicine Health and Millcreek Community Hospital.

Kathy Schaum

Ms Schaum is the president of Kathleen D. Schaum & Associates, Inc., a consulting firm based in Lake Worth, FL that provides strategic reimbursement consultation and education for wound management manufacturers and providers. She has guided the reimbursement strategies for more than 100 manufacturers, received Medicare billing codes for over 700 wound care products, and has applied for and received new Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes/coverage/payment for cellular and/or tissue-based products (CTPs) for skin wounds [old term, skin substitutes] and for all forms of collagen dressings. In addition, Ms Schaum has trained more than 7000 sales representatives about reimbursement for their products and procedures in various sites of care.

Ms Schaum consults with new and established hospital outpatient wound care departments, physicians, podiatrists, nurse practitioners, wound care nurses, and physical therapists about the "business side of wound management." She continually monitors reimbursement legislation and regulations and attends many reimbursement meetings and seminars. She then assimilates that knowledge for her various clients and audiences. Ms Schaum speaks on the topic of reimbursement at national, regional, and local symposiums and seminars.

In addition, Ms Schaum has contributed a regular Payment Strategies column in Advances in Skin & Wound Care for 22 years and a regular Business Briefs column in Today's Wound Clinic for 17 years. Based on these and other published articles, Ms Schaum was recently recognized as a world expert for reimbursement health insurance; of more than 30,000 worldwide authors, she ranks number 25 in the world.
